The National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska has again arranged for a bus to this year’s State Convention in Columbus, Nebraska. The bus will depart Omaha on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 5:00 pm. The first pick-up point will be in Omaha, at the college of St. Mary, and the second one will be in Lincoln, at approximately 6:00 pm, at the Commission for the Blind offices. There will be a third stop in York, which will be at approximately 7:15 pm, at the Super 8 Motel. The bus will arrive in Columbus at approximately 8:20 pm. The trip, including the passenger pick up points in Lincoln and York, should be approximately three and a half hours. Following the convention, the bus will depart at approximately 1:00 pm, following the conclusion of the Sunday morning business meeting on October 7, 2018. The bus should arrive in Omaha by late afternoon.

This year, the bus trip to Columbus is free to everyone registering for convention. This is not a mistake, all you have to do is register on-line, and the cost of your seat on the bus is fully covered by the National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska. Also, individuals living outside of the planned bus route, such as the western part of the state are encouraged to contact President Amy Buresh to request assistance with the cost of transportation to convention.

The bus is being arranged by your state affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska, and these excellent arrangements for travel are made possible through Fontenelle Tours and Arrow Stage Motor coach Lines.

Here is the information regarding the location of the planned pick up points for the bus to this year’s 2018 NFBN convention. We request that everyone be at least fifteen minutes early to help assure that the bus will be able to depart on time.

The college of St. Mary’s campus in Omaha is located at the corner of 72^nd street and Mercy Road.  We depart from the south east corner down by the soccer field. Off of 72^nd street, turn east on Mercy Road, In about one block on your left (North) will be the entrance marked by a large sign.   The entrance road ends in a large circle, go right (east) off of the circle. Go through the first parking lot to the east most lot down by the athletic field fence.  That is where we can leave cars and load the bus.

The bus will pick up passengers in Lincoln in the parking lot in front of the NCBVI offices, located at 4600 Valley Road.
